What Will I Learn?
You’ll learn how to make a broader range of vegetable ferments at home, from brined vegetables to punchy condiments as well as looking at wild fermented drinks and an introduction to tempeh.
Examples of the ferments we'll explore are lacto-fermented dilly beans, cucumber pickles and brined garlic, alongside fermented salsa, relish, hot sauce and Branston-style pickle. We’ll also look at living sodas, tepache and other low-alcohol drinks made through wild fermentation.
There'll be extra tips for levelling up your sauerkraut and kimchi too, so you can take what you already know and have a proper play with it.
What Happens in the Workshop?
This is a practical, hands-on workshop with plenty of time to make, taste, ask questions and talk fermentation.
We’ll start with a welcome drink of house-made kombucha and tasters from our core range of sauerkraut and kimchi. We’ll also have an introduction to tempeh, including a demonstration and tasting, and chat about the science and history of fermentation, nutritional facts about fermented foods and ways to include them in everyday meals.
What's Included in the Workshop?
Your workshop place includes a welcome kombucha, tastings of The Crafty Pickle Co. ferments, a light fermented lunch, hands-on tuition and the ferments you make to take home.
The lunch features a selection of fermented foods, so it is all part of the experience rather than just something to eat between jars.
What You'll Take Home
You’ll take home your own handmade lacto-fermented brined vegetables, fermented condiment and fermented soda, along with instructions for looking after your ferments at home.
That means you’ll leave with both some tasty things to enjoy and the confidence to keep experimenting in your own kitchen.
